Shanghai is a municipality directly under the Central Government of China. It has long been renowned as the "hub of rivers and seas". The term "hub" refers to a place where various materials converge. Due to its location at the estuary of the Yangtze River and the confluence of the East China Sea, it became a major transportation hub and was thus named. In terms of climate, the annual average temperature is 16℃, and the precipitation is approximately 1100 millimeters. The seasons are distinct and the climate is mild. Geographically, it is located on the alluvial plain of the Yangtze River Delta, with a flat terrain; it borders the East China Sea, has a long coastline, and is a natural good port; the Huangpu River and the Suzhou River flow through the city, nourishing the land. Through river dredging and port construction in modern times, Shanghai has strengthened its advantage in maritime and river transportation. It is now a globally important shipping center. This fertile and strategically located land has nurtured prosperous trade and diverse cultures, allowing residents to not only experience the vitality of an international metropolis but also fully enjoy the convenience and nourishment bestowed by the rivers and seas.
